There’s nothing more comforting than the delightful smell of freshly baked cookies. Cookies are indeed one of the most indulgent foods. The satisfaction in succeeding in baking a batch by yourself at home is incomparable to any store-bought cookies. So here are a few tips that will help you get perfect cookies every single time:
1. Chill Your Cookie Dough
We cannot stress enough how important this step is. Chilling the dough will make it firm enough to ensure that the spread of the cookies during baking is controlled. Chilling also enhances the flavour and makes the dough easier to handle.
2. Use Parchment Paper Or Silicone Mat
Never use butter or non-stick spray to grease your baking tray when making cookies. The excess fat underneath the cookies will cause them to spread too much resulting in thin, flat cookies. The best way to prevent cookies from sticking to your baking tray is to use parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Since their surface isn’t completely smooth, the cookies won’t spread too much. Parchment paper and silicone mats also prevent the bottom of your cookies from burning on browning too much.
3. Use Eggs And Butter That Are At Room Temperature
As a general rule, eggs and butter (if it needs to be creamed with sugar) should be at room temperature before you start mixing them. Room temperature eggs give more volume as compared to eggs straight out of the fridge. Butter that is at room temperature is much easier to cream. Cold butter will not cream properly resulting in improper mixing of the cookie dough, which in turn results in not-so-great cookies and no one wants that, right?
So be sure to keep these three simple tips in mind the next time you decide to make a batch of delicious cookies.
